New Delhi, April 22: In a prestigious ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the Padma Shri upon Chittaranjan Maharaj, recognizing his significant contributions to spiritualism in Tripura.
Born on January 22, 1962, in Barakathal, Sidhai Mohanpur, Debbarma’s upbringing in Tripura fostered a deep devotion to Shiv Parvati and Radha Krishna from an early age.
After completing his matriculation, he served as a Panchayat Secretary and encountered the teachings of Sri Sri Shantikali Maharaj during his travels. Inspired by his Guru, he embraced a life of renunciation (sanyas), dedicating himself to Maa Tripurasundari.
The tragic demise of his Guru, Sri Sri Shantikali Maharaj, at the hands of the NLFT terrorist organization marked a turning point for Debbarma. Entrusted by his Guru to lead the Sri Sri Shantikali Ashram, he expanded the mission to serve the indigenous poor population.
Despite facing threats, he established hostels in Amarpur, Barakathal, Chachu, Kowaiphang, and Burakha, providing shelter and education to over 700 children from economically disadvantaged families.
Currently serving as the head priest of Shantikali Peeth and Ashram in the Gomati district of Tripura, Debbarma has received several awards, including the Sant Eshwar Award (2018), Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award (2020), Karmayogi Award (2021), and Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Smriti Award (2022) from the Government of Tripura.
In 2019, Debbarma extended his Guru’s legacy by founding the Sri Sri Shantikali English Medium School, emphasizing holistic and value-based education. His tireless efforts in education and profound influence on spiritual and moral well-being, particularly in indigenous areas, have sparked a resurgence.
His influence spans both indigenous and non-indigenous communities, fostering a growing number of followers actively engaged in Dharma Jagaran. Aligned with his revered Guru’s teachings, Debbarma rejects confinement to a single ashram, emphasizing the splendor of culture, Sanatan Dharma practices, and the rich history of the region.
His steadfast belief underscores the paramount importance of continually showcasing the cultural heritage and principles of Sanatan Dharma to establish and perpetuate Sanatanatwa (eternity) among the people
Debbarma’s commitment to education and spiritual guidance resonates, attracting followers from diverse backgrounds. His legacy continues to inspire a dynamic presence across various ashrams, promoting not only education but also spiritual well-being and healthcare through traditional methods and herbs
