Tripura’s Baslang Jamatia astounds world with remarkable free kick

In a remote village in Tripura’s Gomati District, 22-year-old Baslang Jamatia has captured the hearts of football enthusiasts with his spectacular free kick during a local tournament.

Hailing from the quaint village of Killa in Gomati District, Baslang’s passion for football has always burned brightly. Despite facing financial constraints that limited his formal education to class 10, he immersed himself in the sport.While he isn’t affiliated with any club or team, Baslang, alongside his friends, has honed his skills on the village pitch. Remarkably, he’s entirely self-taught, relying on YouTube tutorials and videos of his football idols, Ronaldo and Messi, to perfect his technique.

Speaking exclusively with The Ultimate Khabar, Baslang said, “When I was 16 years old, I started playing football in my village. Though I am not linked with any club or team, my friends and I always play football. I only read until class 10 due to financial issues. I have learned football using YouTube and have no coach to guide me further”, he said.However, Baslang’s dream of becoming a professional football player has been tempered by his familial responsibilities. At the tender age of 22, he shoulders the weight of providing for his aging parents, both 70 years old, and an elder brother who resides with his in-laws.

“I want to become a good football player and learn more from coaches. My favorite players are Ronaldo and Messi, and I have learned some techniques from them by watching their videos on YouTube. I have my father and mother who are 70 years old, and I have my elder brother too. However, he is now staying in his in-laws’ house, and I am not the only breadwinner as my parents are old now. So it is very tough to be fully engaged in football,” said Baslang.

On October 2nd, a momentous day for Baslang, he showcased his prowess with a mesmerizing free kick that has since taken the internet by storm.The video of this extraordinary feat has gone viral, drawing praise from not only avid football fans but also from esteemed politicians and sports icons.Many have likened his remarkable goal to the legendary strike by Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos during the 1998 World Cup against France.
