Agartala, April 04: An inter-departmental 7-A-Side Football Tournament kicked off at Tripura University on Monday, with a total of 24 male teams and 4 female teams hustling for the championship.
The tournament was inaugurated by the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain, in the presence of Tournament Director, Prof. Sudip Das, Co-Ordinator, Dr. SM Farooque, Co-Cordinator Phanin Narah, Match Commisioner, Medovitso Chase and several young football talents from the state.
The tournament highlights the enthusiastic participation of students from various departments, including B-Voc lead by Riyach Sinha, Sociology lead by M.Moia Halam, BBA lead by T.Saivasanth Kumar, MBA lead by Sumon Debbarma, Journalism and Mass Communication lead by Arkajyoti Majumder, IMD Brocode lead by Focus Khisa, Mathematics lead by Alam, Political Science lead by Nehemiah Halam, Rural Studies lead by Dayananda Reang, IMD 6th Semester lead by Joyjit Das, Kokborok lead by Ashamani Jamatia, Education lead by Wilson Tripura, Physics lead by Abhishek Choudhury, Geography lead by Deba Loyi, Commerce lead by Uchaimong Mog, Scholars lead by L.Sailo, Physical Education lead by Bhaskar Terron, History lead by Puia Darlong, IMD 2nd Semester lead by Dharjan Joy Debbarma, Botany lead by Diganta Pegu, lead by Halok Debbarma, Chemistry lead by Deepjyoti Pegu and IMD City lead by Elson.
Notably, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication is participating in the tournament for the first time.
The Vice-chancellor, Prof. Prasain, emphasized the importance of such tournaments in promoting fitness and building a motivated youth. He underlined the significance of sports and games in fostering a well-rounded student life.
The tournament offers a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 to the winning male team and Rs. 5000 to the winning female team. With all departments, including female students, actively participating, the competition promises exciting matches and a display of promising young talent from Tripura University.
