Agartala, June 25: The Tripura government inaugurated its Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) on Tuesday, aimed at accelerating project approvals under various Central schemes and fostering innovation in future initiatives across departments.
Costing approximately Rs 15 crore over a span of three years, the PMU’s establishment marks a significant step towards enhancing efficiency in project execution and management within the state.
Tripura’s Planning and Coordination Minister, Pranajit Singha Roy, highlighted the PMU’s strategic role in the state’s development agenda. “An e-tender process was conducted to select a Consulting Firm for appointing 14 sector experts under the PMU within the Planning and Coordination Department,” Roy stated. Ernst & Young LLP (EY) secured the tender, and these experts will be tasked with preparing Concept Notes, Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and other project formulations across 14 key sectors.”
Roy emphasized the sectors covered by the PMU, including affordable housing, logistics, industrial infrastructure, roads, urban transport, education, health, irrigation, power, tourism, agri-business, and procurement management. Each sector will be overseen by dedicated experts to streamline project planning and execution.
“The PMU aims to expedite project implementation by leveraging technical expertise and modern technologies,” Roy added. “This initiative underscores our commitment to timely delivery of development projects, aligning with both state and central government priorities.”
The launch event included the formal handover of operational facilities to the PMU team, underscoring the state’s proactive approach towards integrating innovation and efficiency in governance and development initiatives.
