Agartala, January 12, 2024: Great news for residents of Tripura! Today, the state took a major step towards enhancing healthcare with the virtual inauguration of three new integrated public health laboratories.
Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha laid the foundation stones and officially opened the labs in North Tripura, Unakoti, and Gomati districts. This ceremony was streamed live for all seven North Eastern states, where similar labs were inaugurated by their respective Chief Ministers.
This initiative, part of the National Health Mission (NHM), aims to bring better medical services closer to people. These modern labs will be equipped with cutting-edge technology to offer a wide range of tests, including:
Infectious diseases: Tests for common and emerging illnesses like dengue, malaria, and tuberculosis will be readily available.
Non-communicable diseases: Early detection and management of chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease will be possible.
Environmental health hazards: Monitoring water quality and detecting pollutants will help safeguard public health.
Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya, also participated in the virtual ceremony, highlighting the importance of these labs in strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
The inauguration marks a significant moment for Tripura and the North East. These labs promise faster diagnoses, better treatment options, and ultimately, improved health outcomes for all residents.
