Agartala, December 06, 2023: Nishi Kumar Murasing Para HS School in Santirbazar subdivision of Tripura has been grappling with a multitude of issues, with the most pressing concern being a severe shortage of teachers.
A profound sense of sorrow and unrest has enveloped Nishikumar Murasingh Para Higher Secondary School in Shantir Bazar as three teachers lost their lives, leaving students in a state of shock. The incident has prompted a demonstration by students who are now sitting on the streets, protesting perceived negligence that they claim contributed to the tragic deaths.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Shantir Bazar at Nishikumar Murasingh Para Higher Secondary School. The deceased teachers specialized in English, Education, and History, respectively. The English teacher passed away in 2023, followed by the History teacher in 2018, and the Education teacher in 2020. Since the departure of these subject-specific educators, the school has not appointed replacements, resulting in disruptions to the students’ academic progress.
Currently, the school accommodates 232 students. The absence of teachers for these three crucial subjects has posed significant academic challenges for the students, adversely affecting their studies. The lack of immediate replacements has intensified the inconvenience faced by the student body.
In the wake of this tragedy, students have resorted to a unique form of protest. They have gathered on the streets, blocking roads and sitting in defiance of the situation. Their demand is clear – the urgent appointment of teachers to fill the void left by the deceased educators.
News of the protest reached the Shantir Bazar administration swiftly. District Magistrate and Collector Soumen Deb came out of his office to visit the site of the road blockade. The DCM assured the agitated students that steps would be taken to promptly address their concerns.
The tragic incident has not only left the school community in mourning but has also exposed the vulnerability of the education system in the absence of adequate faculty. The immediate appointment of new teachers is now not just a necessity but a demand echoing through the streets, as students insist on their right to quality education in memory of the departed educators. The authorities are now under pressure to act swiftly and restore normalcy to the grieving school community.
