Agartala Dec 04: Episodial incidents of robbery have erupted in panic and tension in the entire Bishalgarh area.
This time, a group of miscreants abducted a lorry loaded with puffed rice on its way to Agartala at Bishalgarh Lockdown Bazar. Apart from beating up the driver, Rs 2.5 lakh was looted from his possession.
Speaking to the reporters, the driver said, “I was returning to Agartala when a bike suddenly hit my vehicle. But nothing happened to the biker or the bike. Soon a group of youths rushed to the scene and abducted my vehicle to a nearby rubber garden”.
The miscreants reportedly called the owner of the vehicle, threatened him with dire consequences and asked for hefty ransom.
Meanwhile, police of Bishalgarh police station hurried to the spot after receiving information of the incident.
The owner of the vehicle along with a team of police personnel searched a few locations in the area but failed to trace the miscreants.
Later, the robbers freed the vehicle driver along with the vehicle and managed to escape from the scene.
The owner said, “The youths belong to Bishalgarh and nearby areas. They beat up the driver Rakesh Hossain and took away all the money”.
Meanwhile, police detained a scooter that probably belongs to one of the miscreants.A case has been registered for further investigation into the case, said police.
