Khowai, Dec 28: A dream, a bicycle, and a deep commitment to the Right to Education—Prashant Rameshwar Sharma, a journalist-turned-cyclist from Maharashtra, is on a mission to spread awareness about education as a fundamental right. What began as a single journey in March 2024 from Delhi’s India Gate has turned into a nationwide movement, pedaling across India to advocate for accessible education for all.
On March 8, 2024, Prashant embarked on his journey with a resolute goal: to remind people that education is not a privilege but a right that everyone, regardless of background or geography, deserves. Despite the challenges, including the two-year setback caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Prashant has continued his journey, determined to reach every corner of the country with his message. On Saturday, his mission brought him to Khowai, where he met with local journalists, media representatives, and community members to discuss his cause and experiences.
At Khowai’s Subhash Park, Prashant shared his insights with the press, offering a unique perspective on his travels. He spoke passionately about his observations on Tripura’s vibrant culture, from its rich history to its beautiful traditional attire and diverse cuisines. “Tripura’s heritage is as rich as its hospitality,” Prashant said, reflecting on the kindness and warmth he experienced from the people he met.
Prashant’s journey isn’t just about cycling from one city to another; it’s about making a profound impact and raising awareness about the Right to Education. “Education shapes the future of individuals and societies. My journey is a small step towards achieving that collective dream,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of this cause in building a more equitable future for the nation.
From Khowai, Prashant plans to cycle through Meghalaya, Assam, and other states, engaging with communities, learning about their challenges, and promoting his message of education rights. Along the way, he will document his experiences, capturing the diverse landscapes and communities he encounters. When his journey concludes, he intends to compile his story into a book, shedding light on India’s diverse educational landscape and the need for urgent reforms to ensure education for all.
