Mahabubnagar, Telangana, February 17, 2024: Police in Telangana have launched an investigation into the deaths of over 20 stray dogs found in a village on Friday night.
The incident occurred in Ponnakal village, Mahabubnagar district. According to locals, a group of masked men arrived in a car late at night and opened fire on the dogs. Around 20 dogs were reportedly shot dead, with several others injured.
Upon learning of the incident, animal activists reached out to the police and filed a complaint. Adulapuram Goutham, an activist, stated, “Locals informed us that masked men arrived in a car after midnight and shot the dogs. We have filed a complaint with the police regarding this incident.”
The police have confirmed receiving the complaint and have initiated an investigation. They are currently gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses to determine the cause of the deaths and identify the perpetrators.
