PM Modi Praises Former PM Manmohan Singh’s Dedication in Rajya Sabha

New Delhi February 08, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the contributions of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during a session in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, highlighting Singh’s dedication even while using a wheelchair.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while addressing the House during the farewell ceremony for retiring members of the Rajya Sabha.

“I remember in the other House, during the voting, it was known that the treasury bench would win, but Dr. Manmohan Singh came in his wheelchair and cast his vote,” Prime Minister Modi recounted.

He emphasized this as an example of a member being vigilant about their responsibilities.

The farewell for retiring Rajya Sabha members is scheduled to take place at Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar’s residence in Delhi later on Thursday.

Earlier today, members of the Rajya Sabha gathered for a group photo at 10 am at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Later, at 6:30 pm, they will attend the farewell function for retiring members at the chairman’s residence.
