Prime Minister Lays Foundation for Projects Worth Over Rs 29,400 Crore in Mumbai
Mumbai, July 13: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took a jibe at the Opposition, accusing them of spreading fake narratives and being against development, investment, and employment. Speaking at an event in Mumbai, PM Modi cited the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) report on jobs to bolster his claims.
Job Creation and Economic Growth
“According to the RBI report, in the last 3-4 years, around 8 crore new jobs have been created in the country. These figures have silenced those who spread false narratives. These individuals oppose investment, infrastructure, and the country’s development and are now being exposed. The people of our country now see through their lies. The NDA is committed to supporting the poor, farmers, women, and youth,” PM Modi said.
Major Development Projects in Mumbai
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for several development projects in Mumbai worth more than Rs 29,400 crore. He emphasized the importance of improving connectivity and infrastructure in the city, making a pointed reference to Congress’ allegations about the Atal Setu bridge.
“Our motive is to make the quality of life best in Mumbai; therefore, connectivity around Mumbai is being improved. In Mumbai, the coastal road and Atal Setu have been completed, and you may remember that misinformation was spread about the Atal Setu. Every effort was made to stall it, but everyone is benefiting from it,” he stated.
Infrastructure Achievements
The Prime Minister highlighted the positive impact of the Atal Setu bridge, which now serves 20,000 vehicles daily and saves 25 lakh liters of fuel. He also noted the rapid progress in metro development in Mumbai, stating, “Ten years ago, Mumbai had only 8 km of metro lines; today, we have 80 km, with ongoing work for 200 km more.”
Vision for Mumbai and Maharashtra
PM Modi shared his vision for Mumbai, aiming to transform it into the “fintech capital of the world.” He also spoke about the potential for Maharashtra to become a major tourism hub, leveraging its natural attractions like the Konkan coast and Sahyadri hills.
