Amritsar, March 23: The Punjab Police has seized two Pakistan-made drones in villages near Amritsar, officials said on Saturday. The drones were traced in villages —Neshtha and Atal Garh— in the border area of Punjab.
The drones were located by the cops during a search operation launched following intelligence input about them. After the seizure, the authorities registered a case and initiated an investigation.
This comes two weeks after the Border Security Force (BSF) shot down a China-made drone near the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district on February 9.
The BSF troops had sighted the drone at night near the border at Rossey village in Gurdaspur district. The troops, with a quick reflex, fired and shot the drone down. Before that, the BSF had captured another Pakistani drone while patrolling in Punjab’s Amritsar on Republic Day.
In a statement on X, the BSF said the drone was captured in the morning while officials were carrying out a domination patrolling near the India-Pakistan border fence near Amritsar. The drone, according to BSF, was recovered from a farming field near Roranwala Khurd village in Amritsar.
