Outrage in Udaipur as BSF Ambulance Driver Flees Hit-and-Run, Injuring Senior Citizen

Udaipur, December 28, 2023: The picturesque city of Udaipur was marred by outrage and frustration today as locals expressed their dismay over the lack of immediate action by the police in the case of a hit-and-run involving a Border Security Force (BSF) ambulance. The incident occurred on Thursday morning along the Agartala-Udaipur highway, leaving a 60-year-old man identified as Ranjan Ali severely injured.

According to police reports, Ali, who was on his way to the Udaipur market to sell milk, was struck from behind by a speeding BSF ambulance. The vehicle, allegedly driven by BSF soldier Mithilesh Kumar Pandey, collided with Ali, throwing him to the ground and causing multiple injuries. The severity of Ali’s condition necessitated immediate medical attention, and he was swiftly transported to Tepania District Hospital by the fire department. However, his condition worsened, prompting a transfer to GBP Hospital in Agartala.

While the RK Pur Police managed to seize the BSF ambulance involved in the incident, the driver, Pandey, was surprisingly released on the spot, sparking anger and discontent among the local populace. Many residents questioned the credibility of the police force, expressing their concerns over the perceived leniency shown towards the accused BSF soldier.
