Pune, Maharashtra, December 09, 2023: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough on Saturday, arresting 13 individuals in Pune, Maharashtra, as part of an ongoing investigation into an ISIS terror conspiracy, as reported by ANI.
The arrests followed a series of raids conducted by the investigative agency at 44 locations across Maharashtra and Karnataka. The operation targeted a conspiracy by the global terror group ISIS to carry out coordinated terror attacks across the country.
Of the 44 locations under scrutiny, NIA officials revealed that one was searched in Karnataka, two in Pune, 31 in Thane Rural, nine in Thane city, and one in Bhayandar. The NIA, in collaboration with the police forces of Maharashtra and Karnataka, executed these raids with meticulous coordination.
The extensive investigations conducted by the NIA are part of ongoing efforts to thwart the plans of the terrorist organization and prevent the spread of terror and violence within India.
The case pertains to a criminal conspiracy orchestrated by the accused individuals and their associates. These individuals had allegedly pledged allegiance to the violent extremist ideologies of proscribed terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda and ISIS, forming a terrorist gang with nefarious objectives.
The primary goal of ISIS, as outlined in the investigation, is to establish a Caliphate by engaging in terrorist activities across various countries worldwide, including India.
