Mumbai, March 14, 2024: Mumbai’s cricket team celebrated a significant victory, securing their 42nd Ranji Trophy title after defeating Vidarbha by 169 runs. The final match, held at the Wankhede Stadium, concluded on Thursday with Mumbai setting a challenging target of 538 runs.
Vidarbha’s captain, Akshay Wadkar, scored a commendable 102 runs, and Harsh Dubey added 65 runs, but their efforts were not enough to claim victory. Despite their resistance, Vidarbha was bowled out for 368 runs.
The match saw several notable performances, with Wadkar achieving his first century of the year and surpassing 600 runs this season. Dubey also impressed with his second fifty in first-class cricket.
Mumbai’s Tanush Kotian took four wickets for 95 runs, playing a pivotal role in the team’s win. The match marked the end of Dhawal Kulkarni’s cricket career, as he took the final wicket, providing a storybook conclusion to his journey in the sport.
