Muhuri Hospitalized After Being Physically Abused by DCM

Teliamura, December 09, 2023: A Muhuri at the Teliamura sub-divisional office was hospitalized on Saturday after being physically abused by the office’s DCM , Sourav Das. The muhuri, who was identified as Shome Kumar Das, a resident of Maharanipur, Teliamura was allegedly called into Das’s office on November 30 and assaulted for promoting fake documents. The muhuri said that Das punched him in the testicles, causing him severe pain and he also explained that he has no connection with presenting any fake documents. The muhuri’s colleagues, who were outraged by the incident, went on strike on December 1.

The SDM, under pressure from the muhuri’s colleagues, called Das into his office and had him apologize. However, the muhuri and his colleagues were not satisfied with this resolution. They demanded that Das be punished in accordance with the law. Shome Kumar Das’s condition has since deteriorated, and he was hospitalized on Saturday. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Teliamura sub-divisional hospital.
