Man Apprehended for Illegal Timber Smuggling!

Churaibari, November 06: In a significant development, Baikhora Police apprehended a man for illegally cutting and smuggling timber at West Churaibari on Sunday night. Based on a tip-off, a team of police led by Officer-in-charge, Bishnuchandra Das raided the west Churaibari forest area from where they caught the accused, Ajit Das while he was loading his Maruti van with the recently cut Timbers. Das had been handed over to Bagafa Forest Range for further inquiry.

Locals alleged that the officials of Bagafa forest range often provide opportunities for illegal smuggling of timbers in exchange for a substantial fee.
