‘Like Krishna was present in Supreme Court’: Arvind Kejriwal on Chandigarh order

New Delhi, February 21: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday lauded Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud for the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Chandigarh mayoral polls.

“We consider courts as temples. Serving justice is God’s work. This is why when a judge announces verdicts, it is considered God’s work in a way,” Kejriwal said during his speech in the Delhi Legislative Assembly during the Budget session.

Drawing parallels with CJI Chandrachud and God, Kejriwal added, “Whatever happened in the Supreme Court yesterday, it seemed as if Lord Krishna was also present in the Supreme Court yesterday. There was God in the Chief Justice.”

Reiterating his comments from Tuesday, Kejriwal thanked the Supreme Court for “saving democracy” in such difficult times.

Kejriwal’s remarks came a day after the Supreme Court overturned the results of the Chandigarh mayoral elections, declaring AAP’s candidate Kuldeep Kumar as the winner of the election.

Further, taking potshots at the BJP, Kejriwal said that the party doesn’t win, but “steals” elections.

“God exposed BJP and proved that the party doesn’t win but steals elections. The country has watched videos and proof of how the party steals elections. Through a small-scale election like that of the Chandigarh Mayor post, God is trying to send a message,” Kejriwal said.

“Lord Shri Krishna is trying to tell the entire creation through Arjun, that whenever religion will be crushed on the earth and injustice and unrighteousness grows, I will be born and incarnate,” the AAP National Convenor said in assembly.

On Tuesday, Kejriwal said that the verdict was a “big victory for INDIA bloc”, adding that “BJP can be defeated through unity, strategy.”
