January 13, 2024: Indian badminton duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty showcased a spectacular performance, defeating world champions Seo Seung Jae and Kang Min Hyuk from Korea in straight games. This win has propelled them into the Malaysia Open Super 1000 men’s doubles final, marking a promising start to their season.
Ranked second globally, Satwik and Chirag displayed resilience, especially during the second game, where they saved six game points. The duo secured a 21-18, 22-20 victory, setting the stage for a gripping semifinal showdown.
This isn’t the first time the Indian pair has triumphed over their Korean opponents. They previously defeated Seo and Kang in last June’s semifinals, maintaining a commendable 3-1 head-to-head record against the world no. 3 duo.
