INDIA bloc leaders take dig at BJP at Congress mega rally in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park

Mumbai, March 18: Several leaders of the INDIA bloc took part in the mega rally held as part of the conclusion of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Mumbai and attacked the BJP.

The Congress’s rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai marked the culmination of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which had commenced from strife-torn Manipur on January 14.Addressing the rally, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said in Mumbai on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi won’t be able to win the Lok Sabha elections “without EVMs, ED, CBI and Income Tax”.

He said, “Our fight against Modi is not on a personal level. Modi is a ‘mask’ who works for a ‘shakti’ (power). He is a shallow man who doesn’t have a 56-inch chest.”

Several leaders of the INDIA bloc took part in the mega rally held as part of the conclusion of Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra in Shivaji Park.

Rahul Gandhi said that PM Modi had a “monopoly over corruption”.He further said that Dharavi in Mumbai could compete with Shenzhen in China in becoming a manufacturing hub, but the government was not letting it happen.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said in his address that “Modi’s guarantee is for the rich”, while the INDIA bloc’s guarantee is for the common people.

“BJP has never fulfilled the assurances given to the people. Those who don’t honour commitments should be thrown out of power. Modi Guarantee has no security,” he said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said that the electoral bonds were “white collar corruption” of the ruling BJP. He added that the INDIA bloc would form a “secular, federal and inclusive” government at the Centre.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray said, “When people unite, dictatorship ends. A country shouldn’t be known after an individual. But now, instead of Bharat Sarkar, it is being called Modi Sarkar. Do you want to change the country’s name? It is time to banish the BJP and protect the Constitution.”

He added that the BJP wants to win over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha as it “wants to change the Constitution”.

He also said that the BJP was “a bubble” and his party inflated it, referring to its alliance with the undivided Shiv Sena for decades till a few years.Similarly, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said that governments are being toppled with the help of probe agencies, including Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He also reiterated Rahul Gandhi’s statement that their “fight is against the ideology of hate” and not “personally” against Prime Minister Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah.

PDP president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti said BJP is afraid of “Gandhi” in Rahul Gandhi’s name. She also said that the BJP seeks to win over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha so that it can change the Constitution.

Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that her husband was jailed as part of “a conspiracy”. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar attended the rally but did not categorically spell out if he was a part of the opposition alliance.
