Farmers Arrested in Thanjavur Railway Protest in Support of Delhi Agitation

Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, February 17, 2024: Around 100 farmers from different groups were arrested on Saturday at the Thanjavur railway station. They were trying to block a train, called the Cholan Express, in a protest.

The farmers were angry about how police treated other farmers who were protesting in New Delhi. They wanted to show their support for those farmers by stopping the train.

Some important leaders of farmers’ associations were also involved in the protest, including P R Pandian, Ayyakannu, and Sundaravimalanathan. The police arrested all the protestors.
