External Affairs Minister Jaishankar Highlights India’s Growing Global Influence!

Nagpur, January 13, 2024: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar asserted on Saturday that the perception of India on the global stage has evolved significantly, with no major global issue being decided without consultation with New Delhi. Speaking at an event in Nagpur, Jaishankar emphasized India’s changing role and the shifting global perspective on the country.

Addressing the audience, Jaishankar stated, “No major issue in the world is decided without some consultation with India. We have changed, and the world’s view of us has changed.” He highlighted the importance of managing national interests independently by engaging with diverse nations.

Responding to a query about India’s involvement in various groupings like QUAD and BRICS, Jaishankar underscored the significance of India’s independence in managing its interests by collaborating with different nations.

Touching upon diplomatic relations with China, Jaishankar stated that normalization between the two countries is contingent on resolving the border issue. “Unless you find a solution to the border dispute and till forces remain face-to-face there, you can’t expect the rest of the relations will carry on in a normal manner. It is impossible,” he emphasized.

While acknowledging that diplomatic stand-offs may take time to resolve, Jaishankar expressed that India and China are working towards normalizing relations. He explained that the ongoing discussions aim to find common ground and facilitate a smoother relationship.

On January 6, during the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Kerala, Jaishankar highlighted that the global conversation has shifted towards India, with the world recognizing the changes taking place in the country over the past decade. “The rest of the world is actually today talking about us. They are asking today how it is that you are able to do,” he mentioned.

Jaishankar attributed these positive changes in India to a transformative vision that has shaped the country’s trajectory over the years. The minister’s remarks underscore the evolving role of India in global affairs and its ability to influence major international decisions.
