Dharmanagar, Nov 09: Along with the rest of the parts of the state, the Dharmanagar subdivision in North Tripura district is also preparing for the ensuing Diwali festival to attract more visitors and devotees.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Chairman of Dharmanagar Municipal Council Pradyut Dey Sarkar appealed for eco friendly celebration of Diwali festival. He also appealed for unleashing burning of fire crackers during the festival.
He said that a series of initiatives have been taken to facilitate the gathering of visitors of the state and abroad amid adequate deployment of security forces in the subdivision.
On the other hand, he informed that this year special initiative has been taken based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘Vocal for Local’, where atleast 2000 women of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have opened counters to sell their products of candle and earthen lamps to mark the Diwali festival.
In addition to this, the Dharmanagar Municipal Council has set up three selfie points, where the visitors can scan a mark in the posters and receive certificates instead of greetings from the municipal council through online.
