Dharmanagar, December 18, 2023: Residents of Nadiapur Sanicherra Gram Panchayat, located in the Bagbasa assembly constituency, find themselves grappling with a myriad of challenges as the construction of culverts along the vital village road faces prolonged delays.
Initiated in 2020 with the objective of ensuring a smoother transportation network, the construction work involving the installation of two culverts in Ward No. 4 has fallen significantly behind schedule, leaving villagers to navigate through a dilapidated road riddled with obstacles.
Recent efforts to recommence construction have offered a glimmer of hope to the residents, who were promised a swift resolution to the issue. However, despite the renewed efforts, approximately 200 villagers within the Gram Panchayat continue to endure the hardships imposed by the incomplete road project.
Expressing their discontent, villagers have voiced their frustration at the prolonged delay, emphasizing the difficulties they encounter on a daily basis due to the inadequate state of the road. The project, which aimed to enhance connectivity and accessibility, now stands as a symbol of unfulfilled promises and community dissatisfaction.
The villagers did not shy away from pointing fingers at the ruling party, expressing disappointment with the apparent negligence exhibited by the Gram Panchayat responsible for overseeing the project. Despite being affiliated with the ruling party, the concerned Gram Panchayat’s alleged lack of urgency in completing the culvert installation has exacerbated the villagers’ plight.
The sanctioned budget for the laying of two culverts in Ward No. 4 amounted to Rs. 1,20,000, making the delay in completion all the more confounding for the villagers who continue to endure the consequences of a fractured road network. As concerns escalate, locals are hoping for immediate intervention to expedite the construction process and alleviate the hardships faced by the community.
