According to Ratan Das, the party’s West Tripura District Secretary and former MLA, the attack took place late on Saturday night when a group of at least seven miscreants, allegedly linked to the ruling BJP, targeted the residences of CPI(M) workers. The homes of Sanjib Saha, a member of the CPI(M) Sadar Sub-division Committee, and Subir Dey, a member of the Sadar Local Committee, were damaged during the assault.

In a media interaction, Ratan Das strongly condemned the attack and expressed his concern over the delay in the police response. He criticized the local police administration for its failure to promptly arrest the attackers and hold them accountable.

In response to the violence, Ratan Das led a delegation of CPI(M) leaders to the East Agartala police station.
