Bru Sangrama Matha organizes protest rally

Shantir Bazar, November 21: The Bru Sangrama Matha, a tribal organization organized a protest rally on Saturday demanding the withdrawal of the state government’s decision to construct a market stand on land claimed by the organization at the Manpathar market area in Shantir Bazar.

The rally, which was led by the organization’s general secretary Khanaram Riang, accused the state government of trying to grab the land of local citizens for political reasons.

“The land belongs to our organisation,” Riang said. “The state government has no right to take it away from us. We will not allow the construction of the market stand on this land.”

The rally was also attended by the Jamatia Community leader, Sadhan Jamatia, members of the Bru community as well as representatives of Vishva Hindu Parishad and several others.
