Agartala, January 13, 2024: As the Lok Sabha elections draw near, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura continues to strengthen its ranks with a surge of new members. On Saturday, 293 voters hailing from 87 families pledged their support to the saffron party, parting ways with the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM). The joining event took place at Thailik Twisa Station area in Kalachara under the Manu assembly constituency in South Tripura district, organized by BJP Manu Mandal.
Tinku Roy, BJP Minister, extended a warm welcome to the new members, handing over the party flag in the presence of Shankar Roy, former MLA and BJP district president, Mailafru Mog, local MLA, and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Tripura’s Sports Minister, Tinku Roy, launched a scathing attack on the CPIM, accusing them of hindering the state’s progress for 25 years. He highlighted the transformation of the South district, once known as the CPIM stronghold, since the BJP came to power in 2018.
Expressing disappointment, Roy alleged, “The party that ruled the state for more than 25 years did nothing for the development of the people in the area.” He criticized the CPIM’s handling of funds through organizations like Krishak Sabha, claiming they exploited the hard-earned money of poor peasants without contributing to their welfare.
Minister Roy welcomed the new members into the BJP fold and urged them to advocate for the party’s developmental initiatives. He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about the BJP’s work in the region and urged the new joiners to convey why they chose to align with the saffron party.
Roy also highlighted the various developmental projects undertaken by the ruling government and called upon the new members to vote for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to ensure the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
