Akhilesh Yadav: Samajwadi-Congress Alliance Gains Momentum with 11 Strong Seats in UP?

Lucknow, January 27, 2024: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed confidence in the success of his party’s alliance with the Congress, stating that the partnership has taken a promising start with 11 robust Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh. The state, which sends 80 members to the Lower House of Parliament, is gearing up for elections scheduled in April-May.

In a post on ‘X’ in Hindi, Mr. Yadav remarked, “Our cordial alliance with the Congress is off to a good start with 11 strong seats. This trend will move forward with the winning equation. ‘INDIA’ team and ‘PDA’ strategy will change history.”

The alliance’s positive trajectory is noteworthy as political dynamics in the region evolve. There are strong indications that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also the president of JD(U), may reconsider his stance and return to the BJP-led NDA.

Nitish Kumar had initially joined forces with the RJD, founded by his former rival Lalu Prasad, in August 2022 after severing ties with the BJP. As the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar, he initiated efforts to unite various parties against the BJP, leading to the formation of the opposition bloc INDIA.

If Nitish Kumar decides to rejoin the NDA, the united front of the opposition may face a significant setback. The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is becoming increasingly dynamic, with alliances and strategies playing a crucial role in shaping the upcoming elections.
