Maharajganj Bazaar, Tripura, January 09, 2024: Fear gripped residents of Agartala following a string of recent thefts, culminating in a dramatic incident on Tuesday morning. Two thieves, armed with a knife, reportedly snatched Rs. 2,000 from a delivery boy in the Maharajganj Bazar area the previous night.

With the help of onlookers, he restrained the suspect by tying him to a pillar with a rope until police arrived.
News of the bold citizen’s act spread quickly, drawing a crowd and sparking heated discussions about safety concerns in the city. While some applauded the delivery boy’s bravery, others expressed worry about potential risks associated with taking such measures.
Police officials commended the boy’s vigilance but cautioned against vigilante action, urging residents to report suspicious activity and let law enforcement handle such situations. They assured the public of increased patrols and intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining thief.
This incident highlights the growing anxieties surrounding petty crime in Agartala. Residents hope for a swift resolution to these concerns and a return to a sense of security in their community.
