Delhi, July 21: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to harm Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail. Singh claimed that Kejriwal’s medical reports indicate a severe risk to his health, suggesting that “anything can happen to him anytime.”

Singh alleged that the BJP is “messing” with Kejriwal’s health. Initially, he claimed there were attempts to spike Kejriwal’s sugar levels by manipulating his diet, and now, accusations have shifted to suggesting that Kejriwal is intentionally reducing his food intake. Singh questioned the motives behind these actions, emphasizing the severity of the situation and accusing the BJP of a “sinister plan” against their leader.

The controversy intensified with a recent communication from Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to the Chief Secretary. The letter expressed concerns over Kejriwal’s alleged non-consumption of a prescribed medical diet and medicines while in Tihar Jail under judicial custody. Saxena requested an investigation into why Kejriwal was reportedly consuming fewer calories despite having access to home-cooked food and noted an instance where Kejriwal refused insulin before dinner on July 7.

The AAP criticized the Lt Governor’s communication as insinuating that Kejriwal is “deliberately” making himself ill, further fueling accusations of a deliberate plot against him. The party’s leaders have condemned what they describe as a calculated attempt to endanger Kejriwal’s health and safety while he remains in custody.
