Shantirbazar, January 13, 2024: In a significant development, at least 54 Bru families were warmly welcomed at their newly opened resettlement camp in the Shantirbazar subdivision on Friday night. This initiative aims to provide a home for a total of 633 Bru families, with the rest expected to reach the camp in the coming days.
The resettlement camp, established at Kala Laugang Durbabari ADC village, is set to accommodate a substantial number of Bru families who have faced challenges in accessing government assistance due to various reasons. While some families are yet to arrive at the camp, the first 54 families were formally welcomed at the SDM office in Shantirbazar on Friday night in the presence of Minister Suklacharan Noatia, SDM Abhedananda Baidya, MLA Pramod Reang, and others.
The reception ceremony marked the beginning of their final settlement, with authorities ensuring that these families will now receive the full range of government assistance. This initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by the Bru families and provide them with a stable and supportive environment in their new resettlement camp.
