Historic Tiprasa Accord Signed Between Government of India, Government of Tripura, and Tipra Motha

New Delhi, March 2, 2024: A tripartite agreement was signed on Saturday in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The signatories included the Government of India, the Government of Tripura, and the Tipra Motha party.

The Chief Minister of Tripura expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the relentless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah in facilitating this historic accord. He also congratulated the top leadership of the Tipra Motha party, including Pradyut Kishore Debbarma and other leaders.

Significance of the Agreement:

• The agreement addresses critical issues related to history, land, political rights, economic development, identity, culture, and language for Tripura’s indigenous people.
• It aims to foster unity, harmony, and prosperity in the state.
• Guided by the principles of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas’, this pact represents a crucial step toward a brighter future.

Home Minister’s Remarks:

• Home Minister emphasized the historic nature of the day, recognizing that past mistakes are now being rectified.
• Over the past decade, the Government of India has tirelessly worked to transform the North East into a violence-free, extremism-free, and conflict-free region.
• Thousands of individuals from various organizations in the North East have abandoned violence and embraced the path of development, contributing to the region’s progress.
• Indeed, this agreement marks a significant milestone in the journey toward peace, progress, and inclusivity in Tripura and the entire North East region.

Tipra Motha Supremo’s Remarks:

Tipra Motha chairman and Tripura royal scion Pradyot Debbarma said that the Tripartite Treaty is a step in the right direction for people. Speaking on Facebook Live, Debbarma stated that the people have got the right direction in the form of the accord. He also said that a lot of hard work needs to be done if the accord is to be implemented in spirit.

“Many people are celebrating. You can celebrate, but many accords have been signed before. But they were never implemented. Because we signed accords, we celebrated, after that we did not do work, we were not disciplined. Everybody thought about themselves. This accord gives the right direction. But if we have to implement the accord in spirit, we have to remain disciplined, we have to work three times more than what we have so far,” said Debbarma.

The Tipra Motha chairman came on Facebook Live post the signing of the historic accord between the Government of India, Government of Tripura and the Tipra Motha. Debbarma also said that they are now going to form a committee and discuss with stakeholders to carve the road ahead.
