Agartala, February 27: Yuva Vikash Kendra (YVK), a Gandhian youth organization, launched its Integrated Farming Project 2023-24 today at Binapani Village under Jirania R.D. Block, West Tripura. The year-long project, sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), aims to empower 30 villagers by providing training and resources for implementing sustainable integrated farming practices.
The project launch included an awareness program inaugurated by Diganta Kumar Das, Deputy General Manager (DGM) of NABARD. Das emphasized the importance of integrated farming, which combines crop cultivation, livestock rearing, and fish farming, in promoting resource efficiency and environmental sustainability. He also expressed NABARD’s commitment to supporting such initiatives.
YVK representatives Pratima Debbarma, Sujoy Majumder, Diptan Debbarma, and Savior Debbarma managed the event, which was attended by prominent figures including Arpita Roy, Assistant Director Agriculture; Rajesh Khandekar, AGM NABARD; Dr. Ganesh Das, Head, KVK West Tripura; Scientist Debasish Dutta from KVK; and Debashis Majumder, President of YVK.
Arpita Roy addressed the gathering on the benefits of integrated farming practices and how they can improve agricultural productivity and income for farmers. Roy also provide insights into government schemes and programs supporting agricultural development.
Dr. Ganesh Das delivered a speech on the technical aspects of integrated farming, including crop selection, livestock integration, and efficient resource management. Das also shared his expertise on best practices and technologies suitable for the local context.
Debashis Majumder expressed his gratitude to NABARD for its support and highlight the organization’s commitment to empowering rural communities through sustainable development initiatives.
