Agartala Dec 09: With an initiative to serve the people, NSS Unit of Bani Vidyapith Girls School on Saturday organized a free Mega Eye Camp at the Jaipur Mosque premises in Ramnagar area of the capital city.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder inaugurated the camp in presence of other dignitaries and school authorities.
The Mayor greeted the NSS Unit of the school as well as Dr Phani Sarkar for the great initiative taken towards service of the common people especially the poor and needy.
“The camp will not only benefit the common masses, but will also help in spreading awareness regarding health among people. They will get useful information and the needy patients can avil treatment free of cost”, said Dipak Majumder.
Eminent eye specialist of the state Dr Phani Sarkar accompanied by other doctors and health care staff conducted the eye check-up, screening tests and prescribed necessary medication to the patients.
Also, medicines were distributed and patients were advised for further investigations.
Dr Phani Sarkar explained about the importance of the eye and its problems. He also detailed preventive measures so as to prevent eye- related diseases.
There was an excellent response to the eye- camp where the NSS volunteers helped in registration and medical cards that were issued to the patients including teaching, non- teaching staff and locals.
